Dear Au Pair
We have been a host family to 8 Au Pairs from all over the world. We started the program in August of 2003. The program has been very successful for us and we plan to continue in that success our current Au Pair, Lisa, is in her second year with us and we simply adore her. We live on Long Island in Suffolk County in a town called Lindenhurst We live in a modest Cape home with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Both my husband and I work in New York City. We have a very busy lifestyle in the office and at home. Sophie 13 and Tessa 7, have many friends in the neighborhood. My son Will is 16 and does not require supervision. We also have 3 dogs.

We have a fairly large backyard with a large pool. The children enjoy swimming very much in the warm weather. Sophie participates in soccer and Tessa in gymnastics. They each attend a different school and leave at different times to attend. They also return at different times of the day after school. First order of business is homework. We put a great deal of emphasis on education and reading.

We enjoy friends and entertaining on the weekends. Regarding your responsibilities, help with laundry and loading and unloading the dishwasher is primary. The girls will help keep their room clean but need guidance or a push. We don’t require a drive and would need to test your ability before giving access to our car.

Sophie is very sweet and very headstrong. She does try hard however at her studies. Sophie is very easy going, loving and affectionate and caring. You would spend most of your time with Sophie.

Mark (dad) and I (Trace) are both easy going and as a multiple year host family have learned a lot about including our au pairs into all aspects of our family. We also respect your privacy and independence. We welcome an independent person and someone who is strong minded and flexible.
I hope you have learned a little about our family through this letter. The key to a successful year is respect and communication. Hope to see you soon.
